Problem With Loneliness ch.20 by ~RoraShigoto:iconRoraShigoto:

My throat went dry and my breath shaky as I glanced down to Demyx. I shook his shoulder lightly, but he didn't stir. My voice was hesitant to speak, and when I finally did, it sounded foreign. I shook Demyx once more and whispered to him, "H-hey..."

He mumbled something and opened his eyes to look at me. "Hn?"

"I need to get up... I need to use the bathroom..." He nodded, stumbling and slipping as he lifted his body just enough for me to slip off the couch. He landed back down with small thud and a content smile. I towered over him, lowering my head and kissing him once, soft and sweet. "I'll be back soon..."

I hope, I added in my mind.

He was already asleep. I took a deep breath. "I need to get my belongings," I told the figure standing in the shadows. Without waiting for an answer, I climbed the stairs two steps at a time. I went to Demyx's room immediately, trying to think. I needed some way out. But if I tried to go anywhere, of course, something could happen to Demyx... With the moonlight streaming through the window as my only light, I searched frantically for a stray piece of paper. On his dresser, I found his black and white checkered notebook. It was the one he used for his song lyrics and other things. I opened to a blank page and ripped it out. Hastily, I picked up a pencil from the floor and wrote,

"Demyx, I'm sorry, but I had to go. -Zexion."

I decided to take the notebook and one of Demyx'sjackets. After all, I couldn't go back empty-handed now. I put my note on Demyx's bed and went back downstairs. The man wasn't anywhere I could tell as I walked out the door silently. The car was running, with the headlights off. I walked slowly, my legs weak. It felt as though my knees would give in any second. I took a deep breath before I opened the passenger side door and got in.

I could scarcely breathe any more. I let tears flow down my face as I sat in the car. The atmosphere seemed to smother me. Although it was pretty warm outside, the heat was on low in the vehicle. I looked at the notebook in my hand, ignoring the heat. My senses told me my options now. My mind was boggled so much now that I thought I was going to explode. Too much had just happened. All in one day, I recovered from amnesia, my brother died, and I was kidnapped. What a great twenty four hours this has been. Although, does it count since it's almost one in the morning? I don't think so. So scratch that. All in twenty six hours.

I looked out the window, a headache starting. It made me feel worse when I realized that he was still in there. I had just left Demyx in there, with no warning, with that psychopath. I am officially an idiot.

But wait.

As soon as the thought came to me, he was in the car, reversing out of the driveway and then speeding down the street. I cried no more. I wouldn't show it. I wouldn't let him know how weak and vulnerable I really was at this point. My once usual, stoic mask was on now. I didn't let my eyes shift or glance over to look at him as I said, "Keiji."

It was him. The one who knew me from the past. The drug-dealer, the rapist, the asshole of all assholes. Only a few years ago, but it seemed so much longer. Everything had changed now. Except him. He looked about the same. Prison had changed him very little.

"Shut up," he said as he turned onto a new road.

"What are you doing here?" It was a simple question, really. He was supposed to be in a nice, cold and lonely jail cell now. Maybe getting ass-raped. He was supposed to be serving fifteen years. And you don't just get out after only two and a half, even with good behavior.

As soon as the question left my mouth and the words sunk in to him, I felt a hard punch on the side of my face, on my jaw. I coughed loudly as the metallic taste of blood came. I was breathing heavily again. I licked my bottom lip and swallowed the blood. Nothing was said then. It was absolute silence in the car. Not comfortable, but not completely uncomfortable either. I stared out the window as the images of blurred buildings passed. I hadn't the faintest idea where we could be headed. Or even if he knew.

I glanced of the car behind us. I wondered why it was still following us. It seemed like it had been there for a while now. I almost strained to see it, getting my hopes up. With no luck. The car turned a corner.

The buildings we passed turned older and older. They were run-down now and some even burned. Unattended to and very few looked like they could even hold up. He slowed down as we rounded a corner. There were no street lights on anywhere close by. He pulled the car into an alleyway and turned the car off. "Get out and follow me."

He stepped out of the car and knocked on the window to signal me. I watched him as he walked toward the street. I followed reluctantly, holding tightly to Demyx's notebook. He fumbled for something in his pockets while I looked around. Straight across the street stood and old church. It was burned on one side, probably because the building beside it was now more of remnants from a fire. The steeple still stood, holding a cross up high. I stared at it for a moment, silently and secretly praying for something to happen. Something good and virtuous.

I guess I dazed out longer than I realized. because I was suddenly being pulled into the building that he finally gotten opened up. Keiji dragged me down a dark hallway, were we stopped. He fiddled with a door knob for a minute He fiddled with a door knob audibly for a minute before the door finally opened.

Then, I was thrown me into the room. I fell down a small set of steps and landed with a hard thud at the bottom. The door slammed and I heard the lock click from the other side. I let out a long ragged breath and stood up. I walked slowly and cautiously to the other side of the room, to where a small window let in a little bit of moonlight. It was barely enough to see anything still, but I was fine with it anyways.

I sat against the wall. I felt around on the ground to right. Feeling only a cold, solid ground beneath my palm, I laid down. I put my cast over the notebook, shielding it as much as possible. It took about thirty minutes, I'd estimate, for me to finally fall asleep.

xXx

It was bright when I woke up. Light filled only half of the room from room the window. I could, however, make out the room details now.

The floor The floor was a dark hardwood, and the walls were a pasty grey. A few old household objects were in the room, too. A small two cushion couch sat against a wall. It was a mustard yellow, but I smiled at it anyway. Beside it, a wooden table that was old and weathered sat. I stood, Demyx's notebook in hand, and walked to the furniture.

Placing the notebook on the table, I stood beside the couch. I lifted up the cushions. However, only dust was under them, nothing more. I sighed and put the cushions back in place. Sitting down, I pulled the notebook into my lap. The window gave off just enough light for me to read the writing in it. I turned to a random page, revealing a poem.

"Help me,
As I cry,
Hold me,
As I die.

Watch,
As the stars shine bright.
Weep,
As you see the sight.

Now come with me,
We will leave this place,
Despair no more,
Follow my pace.

Will you mourn,
Will you cry,
Will you care,
As I die?"

I blinked down at it. It must have been from when he was mad at me or something... Sorry, Dem. I really am. And I wish nothing more than to be there with you...

My thoughts were then suddenly interrupted by a loud banging at the door. I quickly flipped the notebook closed and pushed it under the couch. The door flew open, hitting the wall. I dared not to get up. Keiji stomped onside. His face showed obvious rage. He held two bottles of water in his hands. As soon as I saw them, I realized how dry my throat actually was. I stared at one, and he must have caught it. He set them forcefully hard on the table.

"Oh don't worry, Zexion," he said with a sneer, "we won't need you for much longer." I grunted in small response, wondering what he meant by, "we."

Don't worry, I'll be back soon Demyx, I thought as he began to leave. But as he opened the door, he looked at me and scowled, "And then I'll finally have the pleasure of killing you."

Eh heh... everyone thought it was his daddi! Woo! ...But... I really didn't mean to portray Riku as THAT mean... O.o Remember the guy that tried to rape Paine... yeah. He came back, apparently. I had to find a way to separate my story from others. So...
Meh, I don't know. I had to do something to keep it from getting boring...!
Hope ya don't hate it too much.
